ThirdChord Requirements
ThirdChord was developed and tested under the Apache webserver (version 2.0) running PHP (version 4.3) and makes use of the mySQL database (version 3.23).
It is possible it will run on a Windows server using IIS and PHP, but I have not tested it and can offer no support for that platform at this time.
ThirdChord requires that your server have safe mode turned off
Most web hosts offer all of these things in the very basic plans. You can download and run the compatibility test to check to see if your web server is compatible with ThirdChord.
All music files must be in MP3 format and be ecoded with the artist, album and track names in the ID3 meta information. The best way to encode your music is to use iTunes and set it to output MP3's instead of its native AAC format.
Additional Requirements
ThirdChord uses Ajax for many of its administration features. This requires that you have a modern browser with Javascript enabled.
The following browsers are suggested for use with administering your ThirdChord store:
- Firefox 1.1 and up
- Safari 1.3 and up
- Internet Explorer 6.0 and up
The ThirdChord sample editor is built in Flash. To make use of sample editing, you need to have a minimum of Flash Player 7 installed on the machine you use to administer your music.
In addition, the front end track grid has a built in sample player that is also created in Flash. Users that have Flash installed will be able to use this feature, those without it will listen to your samples in whatever application they have set to play MP3s
Your best bet is to download and run the compatibility test on your web server. This is a PHP script you upload to your webserver and view in a web browser.
